Headband. Camp Fire Girls. Beaded, made by Agnes Carlson for her uniform, c.1923. Glass beads on mesh front, with elastic band back. The beaded portion is 12.25" long and 1.25" high. The beading is done with a white background and red borders; it has a central design, and a repeating pattern which is symmetrical about the central design. The central design is defined in the Camp Fire Girl handbook as "wawbansee / mirror water / stream, reflecting sun, tree, cloud, and jutting rocks / design is repeated from center". The central motif is itself symmetrical top to bottom and side to side. It shows blue water, green and brown trees, yellow suns, black clouds, and black projections from water. Patterns to the left and right of the central design appear to be green and brown trees, as well as trees surrounded by several colors, including yellow, blue, and orange. Embroidered letters "A." and "C." sewn into back of headband. 14.75" long (flat), 1.25" high. (Patterns represent the maker's/wearer's name. Agnes's name was "Laughing Waters".)
