Description:
Sheet. Rectangular. Cotton, white. Alternating stripes of plain weave and patterned (twill) weave. Embroidered commercially, red, “C M / 12”. 11 button holes along top/bottom edge. Hemmed top and bottom; selvage edges. Several stains. Cover, unidentified use, made of a single width of white cotton with a wide woven twill stripe (probably would have been considered a type of dimity). The cover is hemmed along the top and bottom edges; the bottom edge has 11 buttonholes. At the center near this edge is hand-stitched in gothic script letters with flourishes, in red cotton thread, the initials "C M / 12." The hemming is stitched by machine, but the buttonholes appear to be worked by hand. The sides are selvedge.
