Saranac Glove Company, Littleton, NH, a.k.a. Saranac Buck Glove Company. Formed in 1889 from consolidation of other glove companies, including Eureka Glove Co. and Ira Parker & Co. In 1891 became part of Parker Brothers & Co. Known for being one of the most important industries of Littleton from the mid-1890s, and for being a leader in buckskin glove production. There were at least two patents: the processing (known as "Saranac"), which increased heat and steam resistance, and the snap fastener. The gloves were advertised as being mainly used by railroad men. Located on the Ammonoosuc River near the center of Littleton village, powered by water wheels. - Credit Line:
