- Etching and aquatint of Manchester N.H. along the Merrimack River, by Christopher Hill Morse (b. 1957), 1988. Etching with aquatint, on 100% rag paper. Brown and blue image of Manchester, showing Notre Dame Bridge, right of center, and the crane used in its removal. Handwritten pencil inscription in lower margin: "26/50 Manchester N.H. along the Merrimack River Christopher Hill Morse 1988". Paper label with typed inscription on backing paper: " 'Manchester, New Hampshire Along the Merrimack River' / This image was made from studies done from the top of the New Hampshire insurance / building looking almost due south. When these were done the construction of the new / bridge had started and the crane visible in this image was assisting to put in the new / footings for the new bridge. At this time the construction of the new bridge seemed not / to require the destruction of the old one. The talk was to keep the landmark as a walking / path. Trucks were driving out on banks to fill to aid in this construction. These were / parked on these banks of fill at night. It was March. Later that spring, floodwaters washed these trucks downstream. / Largely, the mill buildings of the city of Manchester have made the transition from / their glory when it was an industrially based area. Rather than being torn down, they are being converted for a variety of new uses." Matted with gray mat. Framed by artist in gold painted wood.
