Sliding switch has two tabs that pass through body and are attached to sheet-metal piece on inside that makes contact with metal front end. Coil spring inside of threaded rear cap that pushes against a couple of D-cells that are in contact with lamp at front. (Batteries are not present nor is lamp). Threaded end cap has the raised word "EVEREADY" stamped into the back. Five groups of three reeded sections behind the word that are parallel to each other and act as decorative element. These are same color as cap. At bottom is in a slight arc the raised letters "MADE IN U S A". (The light-colored metal decorations are colored varnish over the polished body surface of lamp. These are slightly gold due to color of varnish and the gold is more prevalent over front and back end caps where surfaces have been protected).
