From donor: "Handed down to me are some lovely old gowns and some documents which came from my grandmother [Fostina M. Dodge Barber b. 1851].... The gowns date back to the turn of the century when John McLean was governor of New Hampshire [1905-1907]. My grandfather, Henry H. Barber of Milford, was a personal friend of the governor, and I have always understood that some of these gowns were worn at important state functions of the era."
