- Bedcover. Constructed of a headcloth and valances. The crewel embroidery on plain-woven linen is probably mid-18th century, and was part of a bed furniture set that was broken up, likely by descendants. The embroidery is worked in various colored crewel (worsted) wool yarns in stitches including the New England laid stitch (also called "Romanian" stitch), straight, seed, and outline stitches. The floral and tree motifs are scattered across the linen. The valances have scalloped ends. The lower edges of the various panels are bound with linen tape.
