- Description:
- Plane, molding. "M W", dark-brown, fine-grained hardwood. Chamfer starts at slight notch about halfway up on left side, proceeds to square front corner. Corner beveled. Chamfer runs across top edge to top rounded corner, extends down side to a small notch that is same height of extension on right side. Chamfer on right side mirrors that on left. Concave groove on top of extension. A number of very small irregular depressions on left side and on sole. On toe are some radial marks in wood that are probably part of ray structure. A few small surface cracks on toe. Couple small horizontal cracks on left side of toe. On sole is a line parallel to left side that marks edge of throat. Looks like scribe line. On right side are two scribe lines above bed and mouth. From evidence, not known if ever used or had iron in it. Horizontally stamped on front, near bottom: "MW".
