Toe width is 1.95", heel width 1.45". A slight chamfer starts at front in a groove, proceeds up to front right-angle corner and then along top side to a curved boat-tail surface at back. It then proceeds down side to a small notch. Right side mirrors left side. Chamfers are all somewhat slight and deep notches at their ends seem to be more symbolic than functional. On top at the front is a strike button, 0.75" diameter. It extends upward 0.15". It has rounded sides and a slightly flattened top. Cutting pattern for blade is roughly flat surface. Iron width 2". Some hammer marks on heel. Horizontal, stamped twice on heel: "G. H. UPTON." One of these stamps is nearer top edge. Stamp on front, twice, horizontal: "G. H. UPTON." Small remnant of stamp on front near top surface, horizontal. Box stamp, serrated edges, possible semi-circle with small protuberance in center at bottom. At right angled letters, "..Y" angled up to left and goes in to corner. Horizontal, serrated edge "[RET]". Below that is short vertical edge that leads down to horizontal edge with serrations. In that small area is horizontal: "R. I." Iron removable. Backing iron and iron held together with slotted cap screw that slides in slot and passes through keyhole at top end of slot. Iron and backing iron right-angle ends with clipped corners. End of iron turned over slightly where it has been struck. Stamps in top of iron. Slightly circular pattern of block letters, "HUMP[..]REYS[...]". At top end is almost horizontal in curvature. Below that are two stamps, "[WA]RRANTE[D] / CAST ASTE".
