- Description:
- Plane, molding. "M. W." Medium-brown, fine-grained hardwood. Shape and chamfering is completely backwards. Extension is on left side, has shallow groove across top of extension. Chamfering on front extends from top of extension to top front corner which is squared. Chamfering across top to back rounded edge, extends down side to top of extension. Chamfering on right side is mirror image of that on left side. No grooves at ends of chamfers. Pattern is quarter-round edge with slightly raised portion at top end. Blade wedge is not stuck and has some inactive corrosion on front and back surfaces. End of tang is slightly rounded from hammering. Some small chips in blade edge. Might be some evidence of blade being welded on top edge or it could be deep scale that has flaked away in regular pattern. Stamp on front: "M W" horizontally, serif. Front and back edges look to be vertically sanded due to sanding marks in wood.
