Upward from groove, edge is chamfered to a right angle top front edge. Top left edge is chamfered from front to squared back edge with corners rounded at each side. Back edge chamfered downward to a small horizontal groove. On right side chamfering mirrors the configuration on left side. Iron has small amount of tarnish and corrosion. Plane iron also set into block at an angle so that right side of iron is closer to front than left side. Blade angle approximately 22 degrees from longitudinal axis. Number of dents from tool marks on heel surface. Stamps on front surface. At top is horizontally-oriented stamp with serrated edges. "D. & M. COPELAND." Below that is plane stamp, recessed characters: "R. TAYLOR" horizontally-oriented. On iron is stamped on tang that is partially obscured by wedge: "EWBOULD". Cheek area above mouth is rounded and sculpted.
