- Description:
- Embroidery pattern, floral design. Pencil and paper. Paper thin, fairly translucent, tracing material. Light tan in color. Horizontal pattern, hand-drawn repeat with three medallions with fanciful flowers above and below them. Two vase-like designs with a fanciful, floral assembly extending upward to near top of sheet, between central medallions. Vase with simple base to it. Some slightly-curved long leaf-like elements extending upwards in a symmetrical pattern. Below medallions pattern most intricate from vases towards center medallion. Medallions at either end do not have complete arrays of central flowers around them. Could be that more of this design on other sheets above and perhaps below this sheet. Design most heavily drawn in pencil from vases towards center with less of design near left and right edges. Design goes up on left side of sheet. At right side, about 6" of blank space to tattered right edge. Some of holes and tears in paper correspond with heavy pencil drawing done on paper. Hard to say, but may be light pencil marks on back side of sheet that appear to be underlines for total design.
