- Description:
- Embroidery pattern, pencil on paper. Lightly-drawn floral and bird design on tracing paper. Straight pencil lines at top and bottom edges. At bottom of pattern, four smooth arcs to create hills. Some small, fanciful leaves and blossoms. At center, tall, tree-like plant leading upwards to near top of design. About halfway up design, bird facing left with its head turned back and upward. Slightly-curved bill. Some long tail feathers that lead down to right. At base of main plant, large stem that leads from right, then curves to left in front of main stem. It then branches into lower, fanciful leaf. Branches two more times to some stems and tendrils with blossoms and fanciful leaves and blossoms. Small tendrils that curl off some of stems. Near bottom base, part of main stem breaks off to right with three sub-stems holding three fruits and two leaves. Further up, branch that curves off to right with fanciful leaf, fruit, and blossom. Fruits hang down. Tendrils interspersed. Above bird, central stem splits of to left and right. Right one leads mostly upward and slightly to right with very fanciful blossoms and leaves. Left-hand side curves over towards side, but it has fanciful blossoms, leaves, and fruits. Several tendrils interspersed with vegetation. Vegetation tends to fill that area well, but not always well-supported by reasonable-sized stems. Support is by a single line. At left side at center, a number of splits and creases in paper. In this area, a number of relatively small and detailed, fanciful blossoms, leaves, and tendrils. At right edge, single line parallel to edge of paper. Some writing lower right corner in pencil. Some possibly missing: "perforation / with Rice () paper / Clara also".
