Quilt. Made by Sally Parsons (1782-1838), Gilmanton, NH; 1812. Whole-cloth, wool with a soft yellow glazed worsted top and plain-woven cream wool back. The yellow fabric, which is plain-woven, may have been imported; it was professionally finished at the least. The backing fabric, which is made of Z-spun yarns and woven at 16 x 18 ends per inch, supports the history that this quilt was made with wool produced by the family. The batting is white wool. The quilting pattern is a design of a diamond grid with alternating filling patterns of parallel lines and a four-lobed motif, worked in creamy yellow worsted thread at six stitches to the inch. Knife edge finish.
