Coverlet. Made by Hannah Wilson (1787-1869), Farmington, NH, for Rhoda Ann Leighton (1817-1896), Milton, NH; 1837. Woven with supplementary weft loops in dark blue wool on a white cotton base. The pattern is a framed center medallion, with an octagonal motif filled with tree and plant designs oriented towards a star in the center. The octagon is surrounded by a rectangular frame filled with dots, followed by a frame filled with stylized plants in a footed vessel. The next border is filled with stars, then another border is filled with flowers emanating from a vessel with deeply scrolled handles. The last border is on three sides only and features an undulating line with plants growing from the dips and humps. An inscription is worked across the top edge: "Rhoda Ann Leighton no 75 1837." Woven in three panels, so there are two vertical seams; pattern is perfectly matched along the seams. Each panel is about 33.5 inches wide. Base fabric is ribbed by the dark blue wool wefts.
