1965.520.04
Date:
1860-1900

Pot. Redware. Unglazed exterior with green slip on interior. Rolled rim and a single incised band about 1/4 way down from the rim. No hole in bottom.
Material:
Ceramic
Redware
Dimensions:
H-5.5 Dia-7.5 inches
Provenance:
Found in collection, as of April 1965. The use of green slip on the interior of this piece suggests that is was intended to be glazed but was never finished. Typical of the wares of hand potters in the closing years when the greatest output was of flower pots and cases.
It is possibly part of the group of pottery purchased from the Clark family with funds given by Margaret Jewell but not accessioned with that group (1938.013), as it is not labeled.
