Marked on bottom, ink on tape, "Gift of M.H. Jewell 1938 / Boscawen Pottery". There were two potteries in Boscawen, that of Jeremiah Burpee, which operated from 1804 to 1862, and that of John Osborne, founded in 1816 and closing a few years later. From the ornate decoration on this piece, it seems probable that it was made at the Burpee factory.
