The Osborne pottery operated from 1839 to 1885. It was started by Elijah Osborne from Loudon who carried on the business with the aid of his sons James and John. Gonic pottery is often characterized by mottle effects, which were sometime produced by dipping the fingers in a dark colored glaze and dabbing them over a clear glaze. The ware was distributed in the usual way from peddlers' carts among the surrounding towns. - Credit Line:
- Gift of Margaret H. Jewell
