The Gonic Pottery was founded by Elijah Osborne in 1839. He ran it with the aid of his sons James and John throughout his lifetime. After his death the sons carried on the business as partners until 1875 when John withdrew leaving James and his son William to manage the works until its close ten years later. Gonic ware is characterized by mottled effects produced by dipping the fingers in a dark colored glaze and dabbing them over a clear glaze. - Credit Line:
- Gift of Margaret H. Jewell
