Pattern: From Coysh & Henrywood (1982), The Dictionary of Blue & White Printed Pottery, Vol. 1, pp.138, describing the pattern on this plate -- "Fisherman's Hut. Maker unknown. A title that has become accepted for a design that shows a fisherman with equipment on his back, standing outside his hut. In the foreground a woman with a child in her arms kneels by some large fish. On the right is the bow of a sailing ship with prominent masts and in the background is a large country house. The scene is printed in a brilliant dark blue within a floral border. Several examples of the pattern have appeared recently in Britain but they can all be traced back to the United States, and the design was probably made originally for export."
