- Provenance:
- Two pieces of correspondence appear in the accession record with regard to provenance of this set: "Dear Lizzie, I am sending the Bourbon pattern china (Early American) for you to do as you like with... Addie," and a later pencilled note, "Aunt Lizzie gave these to the Geo. Martin family June 22, 1930. She said Mary might like them sometime." The George Martin referred (1871->1930) to was the father of the donor -- Mary F. Martin (1899-1978).
Donor left the following note, partially about this set, "This chest at my death goes to the Concord Historical Society - Also Sprig Pattern old Paige china." The Paige family of Bradford and Dunbarton N.H. was donor's father's mother's family. Hence, the "Aunt Lizzie" mentioned above is likely George Martin's mother's half-sister, Elizabeth C. Paige (c.1853-), the youngest daughter of Louisa T. Cressy (1817-1901) and Bard Plummer Paige (1808-1893). - Credit Line:
