- Provenance:
- This piece is probably a post-Revolution American infantry musket, copied after the French model 1768 military musket. Many similarities are apparent between this gun and several others in the collection: see 1907.014.01; 1962.018.01; 1975.545; 1975.566; and 1975.567. While none of these guns are identical, their close resemblance to each other suggests a common origin, or at least a common influence on style.
