- Description:
- Pendant of gold, enamel, shell, and hair. Oval locket with small loop on top. On front, flat beveled-edge oval glass. Fanciful black floral border with stippled gold background around edge of glass. Small plain narrow border around outside oval edge. Flat surface of mother-of-pearl behind glass. Tan blossom with petals, leaves, and stems. Stems drawn in. Other three-dimensional parts adhered to background. Material of tan parts unknown. Slightly-domed, convex gold metal surface on back of oval; some engraving on it, in script: "John G. Whittier / Cut / Jan. 6, 1876. / ----by---- / E. Quimby".
