- Locket, book-shaped. Gold and enamel. Six bands across spine of book. Black enamel decorations on covers. Small fanciful shapes in each corner and near fore edge. Small clasp lock that pivots across fore edge. Five-section hinge concealed in spine. Two small ovals on inside. Small raised floral motifs in each spandrel. Image of George Washington in left-hand oval. Right hand oval has flat glass with cut-out picture of General Grant on slightly-textured, black background.
