Description:
Needlework pattern, floral, pen ink design on paper. Woven paper, watermarked: "[...]NE DAVIS / 1823". Border design. Three connected arches with scalloped edges, small circles inside each scallop. Long, horizontal, undulating stem that curves up into arch and then back down at its edge where it repeats same pattern in adjacent arches. Numerous pointed leaves from main stem that extend up and down. Spacing between each leaf. At left side of arch, sub-stem that drops down and then curves around to right, then slightly upward. From that stem are small orbs on smaller stems side by side on outside of curve. Same small orbs as stems on inside of curve near end. Above that, a secondary stem extends downward to right, then curves up slightly. On top edge of curve, alternating pointed leaves and orbs on slightly longer stems that extend beyond edge of leaf. Four leaves and three orbs between them. Above the three orbs, three more that create a circle with seventh orb in center. The three top orbs in this sub design, not connected by stems. This pattern repeated two more times to right. The scalloped edge on this pattern matches portion of a pencil design on 1980.012.02.34.
