- Description:
- Needlework pattern, floral, "MARY BAKER", pencil, pen ink on paper designs.
Four different border designs. In one corner of sheet area cut out. Adjacent to it, small border repeat. Two plain arches. Below one arch, second more elongated and narrower arch. It has series small orbs on outside of it connected with short stems. Inside of arch, elongated oval with cross-hatching in center. Small, perhaps leaves around outside of this. At bottom edge of oval which is pointed, a central loop with two 3-petal stems extending opposite each other from loop. Under second arch and to right of first, close repeat of same design. In lower right corner of sheet, name in script: "Mary Baker" with single line underneath it. In upper left corner, design of arch with series of smaller arches connected to it along outside edge. Below that, similar arch with small arches on top surface; each one of these small arches has three leaves sticking out of it, with central leaf being slightly longer than other two. Below this arch, series of small and elongated leaves extending from arch line. Below that, asymmetrical, floral group. On right, blossom with round center and overlapping elongated petals. Behind and at ends of petals, five groups of thin leaves that extend from petal ends. From center of blossom, stem leads downward, turns to left, then leads back up to make semi-circle. From this stem, series of 3-leaf clusters on short stems on outside edge. These clusters extend to end of stem. On inside surface of curved stem, single elongated leaves. From beginning to end, in middle single blossom on short stem with circular center and five, overlapping elongated petals that extend to side and upward. Lower left corner design of long undulating line of small circles. Adjacent to that, undulating stem. At bottom end of stem, sub-stem that extends outward with small curve in it. It has multi-element blossom similar to the one adjacent to it on same end of sheet. From long undulating stem, three leaf clusters on short stems along side adjacent to circles. On other side of stem, single leaves, followed by 6-leaf cluster, followed by 5-petal blossom with repeats once. In center of sheet, undulating line of connected narrow ovals. From one side of this, six similar blossoms on stems. Series of short leaves leading from undulating line and from some of the stems. Stems have very fanciful blossom with small petals that are nearly round, then elongated central blossom portion with auxiliary leaves or petals that are elongated. All blossoms have same theme with minor variations. One is true blossom and others are hybrids. - Material:
