Silhouette painted black with ink and accented with bronze powder; mounted on paperboard. Sitter is wearing a dress with puff sleeves and low wide neckline. Her hair is pulled up and styled with bow; she has a drop earring. Pencilled on reverse: "Mrs. Elton / friend of / the Countess / 1830". Gilded gesso over molded wood frame, with exterior rope-twisted decoration and interior beaded trim, glazed
