- Silhouette. Portrait of Mary R. Jewett, attributed to Harry P. Hammond (1867-1955), 1886. Pencil on paper. Bust-length profile of a woman, facing right, wearing her hair up. No obvious indication of a collar on clothing. Pencil inscription lower center: "Mary R. Jewett / Jan. 1, 1886. sister Sarah Orne Jewett" Lower left: "F. Perry". At back of subject's head: "MR.J-3." On the reverse, there is some sort of label, mostly peeled or worn off. Remains say "-ERKINS / Exeter E- / BOSTON OFF[ICE] / 33 [---] 105 [---] S [---]". Unframed.
