Part of a bequest of Stickney family items from Catharine Ayer Stickney Ransom (1831-1908) of Haverhill, MA. This piece marked M. E. Stickney from Mrs. D. Stickney, referring to Mary Elizabeth Stickney (1834-1900) and her aunt, Dorcas Abbott (Mrs. John) Stickney (1817-); perhaps this was engraved on the occasion of Mary Elizabeth's marriage to Calvin Buttrick, c. 1865. Note that the piece is much older than the engraving.
