- Description:
- Wallpaper, two 9" pieces, c. 1920, border. a. Scroll in gilt, small floral design in tan, blue, and silver with pinkish brown and gilt border. Small floral group in center. Its symmetrical gilt curlicues with Rococo curlicues around it. Smaller, almost circular curlicues next to the wide gilt edge. Background orange-rose color following some of design adjacent to edge. Paper textured with many small, rounded protuberances. Silver, gold, orange, rose, two shades of tan, and a greenish blue. Texture on back very small pebble grade.
b. Wallpaper fragment. This piece contains all of designs of 22 a. It shows additional width at edge of paper adjacent to the wide, gold band. Also, shows additional repeat of design in a fragment at top edge of paper where it was cut, parallel to manufactured edge. From this, looks like two borders on same paper and same sheet that were cut apart. This fragment also a bit wider which indicates an alternating pattern of floral groups. Fragments of taller group adjacent to smaller one in centers of both fragments. Fragment a. lines up closely to fragment b. to provide idea of configuration of larger floral group. Colors and design same from fragment to fragment. Pebble grade texture of 22a slightly more prominent than 22 b. At edge, unprinted band 0.7" wide. Some evidence on back of sheet at edge, that light-tan background is a printed color as there are some smudges of that color on back of sheet. - Material:
