Description:
Wallpaper, brown, floral, 2 pieces. A. Stylized tulip design on brown background with gold. Tulip blossom petals shades of green. Tulip blossom and some of its long leaves and stem, design created by small dots that outline stem and small leaves. Some interior dots to give color to leaves and petals. Two colors green dots in blossom. Thin green wash background for blossom. Vertical band on either side of the floral band, consists of light gray/brown background with pattern of white dots spaced over smaller pattern of dark brown dots. Dots line up in rows and columns. Some spacing and emphasis in dots to create overall pattern. Fragments of some additional abstract patterns in same vertical bands. In lower left corner, portion of one of those additional decorations. To right of large, central, single blossom-leaf design is top, horizontal edge that is missing from the vertical band. Below blossom design, another series of horizontal and vertical bands of dot patterns to create smaller design. Repeat for tulip design: 15.7" based on main blossom and fragment of a repeat at bottom of a sheet. On back of sheet, traces of some different design evidenced by brown lines in paper that must be from some other source. Writing on back: "Also / 1st 2fl / halls". b. Patterns appears to be same as 3a. Paper appears to have more dirt on it, because decorations and colors do not have same contrast as 3a. In addition, border paper at top edge, at least 8.2" high. Following some of the shapes in border remnant, it is at least another 2-3" higher, if not a little more. Pure speculation. Some of similar design implements including dots to outline or add color to shapes in border piece. Appears to be central vertical element and two horizontal elements at its base. On right side, portion of greenish blossom with several petals. Three parallel stripes bottom edge of border. From back, paper appears to have small pebble-grain design in it. On back of sheet in pencil: "3rd / hall paper". Last of three layers used in hall.
