Trees (with beginnings of autumn foliage), rocks and ledges left foreground, body of water, boat with two figures at right. Trees at right and mountains in distant background with sun setting in a yellow sky. Signed in red lower left corner, "J. Morvillier / 1856". Gilded wood frame.

- Purchased from William G. A. Turner (1858-1936) of Malden, MA. According to correspondence in object file, seller originally paid $16 for the painting (1919.008). Source stated that the artist lived in Malden for many years, about 1860. Note: artist also lived in Malden, same time period.
