- Certificate of Merit, by Sarah "Sally" Fairbanks (1791-1876), 1822. Watercolor and ink on laid paper. Eagle (brown, green and yellow) holding laurel branches in talons; ink inscription with flourishes within banner extending from tips of its wings: "Merit is Rewarded / This Certifies that the / Bearer by close application / to study the week past is head / of the second Class S Fairbanks / Antrim Aug. 2nd Instructress / 1822." Molded black frame, glazed.
