- Bayonet; Model 1855 sword type; 21.7" steel blade; 4.8" brass hilt; semi-spear point ; "US" stamped on ricasso; "a" stamped to rear of barrel ring; press stud, at back of hilt; brass barrel ring, on top edge of hilt; grooved grip; C-guard brass finials; flattened back edge with false edge toward point; mortise stud without guide, at rear of hilt; unstopped fullers, on either side of blade; rounded pommel.
