- Description:
- Balance scale. Steel, leather, and brass. Small reddish leather fob connected to steel S hook. Steel S hook connected to balance arm yoke. Two long arms to yoke that flare at bottom with two graduated circular sections with small diamond finial at bottom. Hole for knife edge in balance arm through top circular section. Corresponding circular section also with hole for other knife edge. Balance arm tapers down to ends where they flare outward and curl upward and around to small hole; brass S hook through hole. Three brass loop chains to other end of S hook, from which balance arms are suspended. Chains ~7.5" long. Pans are spun brass; turned-over edge at top with three holes for chain attachments. Brass chains double eyelet style with one eyelet bent into location. Thin pointing arm on top center of balance arm, bent ~20 degrees at one of its narrow decorative bands on arm. Arm circular with two decorative bands and tapered tip.
