Seated man in foreground has white trousers and white hat, and is smoking pipe with white smoke. One man with transit and one with survey rod. Carter Range in background. Signed in pencil, lower left: "Maria G. Beckett / July 1859." Pencil note on reverse: "Owned by John J. a'Becket", and "Carter Mt. from ? Falls ?" Unframed.
