- Picture mirror, framed, with watercolor painting on paper. The wooden frame is fully gilded, red wash under the gilding. Banister turnings on all 4 sides, with sausage-shaped turnings separated by ring and cup turnings. There are square blocks in each corner with pressed sheet metal circular medallions in the center of each block. The picture (replacement; primitively executed) shows a red and yellow fruit basket. Included fruits are a melon, peaches, grapes, strawberries and several unidentified striped oval shapes, possibly nuts. Above the basket is a bow and grape leaves and tendrils. There is a white background. The mirror appears to be in good condition.
The back is covered with a solid single plank of wood with all edges beveled. There is a paper label from the New Hampshire Historical Society. There is also a paper fragment glued to the back with the heading, "BAIRD - NORTH CO_ / HUSSEY, HYDE & CO., MANA__ / SALEM, MASS. / Catalogue F 1899", followed by several fragmentary lines of text (this is a fragment of a page from an 1899 Baird-North Co. catalog, gold and silversmith mail order business). This fragment appears to be glued on top of another substance (perhaps it is a protective cover over a knot in the wood). There are also several undecipherable chalk marks. - Material:
