Family record, Dudley-Glidden family, Raymond, NH, by George Melvill (c. 1755-1800), c. 1797. Watercolor on paper. Brown lettering in oval at top: "A Family / Record of Moses / Dudley Esq. of Raymond, / in the County of Rockingham, / and State of New- / hampshire". On either side of oval are an angel and a red, blue, and brown star design within a hexagon; blue background. Oval bordered by band of red and black dots. Brown lettering in main body of record: "MOSES DUDLEY / Born January 29. AD. 1766 / NANCY GLIDDEN / Born July 16. AD. 1764 / Intermarried April 26 AD. 1788 / Unto whom was Born / Betsey. Septr. 12. 1788. John. Octor. 3. 1789. Gilman. Decr. 28. 1790. Moses. Septr. 10. 1792. James Febry. 5. 1794 / Guilford Decr. 7. 1795. Sally. Octor. 17. 1797. Franklin. Nov. 7th 1799. Nancy. July 9th 1805. / Elbridge Gerry August 13th 1811". Names of husband and wife are decorated with leaves and two vases of red flowers. Brown angel head and wings on either side below wife's name. Signed in brown, lower right, "George Melvill Scripsit". Orange-brown border. Black paint over gesso over wood frame with gilded interior molding, plexiglass.
