- Speeder fliers, for textile manufacturing. Walnut wall case containing three mounted speeder fliers, two of which are marked "J.A.V. SMITH / PATENT / JAN.3.1871"; third flier has bobbin with yarn.

- Speeder fliers were used in the Manchester textile industry, in the card room where yarns were prepared for spinning. They reduced the size of the strand and gave it a slight twist.
