The Chamberlin House was built in 1886 by Nellie's husband, Horace E. Chamberlin (1834-1908), using a maill-order design.

Motion of the Woman's Club. 1/9/1987: "Move that the wicker vanity side chair from the original furnishings of Chamberlin House, gift of Nellie Chamberlin, be made a gift to the N.H. Historical Society from the Woman's Club of Concord. The presentation of this gift would further perpetuate the memory of, and give due recognition with appreciation for the generosity of Horace and Nellie Chamberlin for the contributions to the Woman's Club of Concord, the City of Concord, and the State of New Hampshire in general."

From press release: "This particular piece of furniture (1987.11) was delicate and so typical of Mrs. Chamberlin, the little lady, and yet would receive too much usage from the rental of room or for public functions."
