Provenance:
Lorenzo Horne operated a piano stool factory in Wolfeboro. He patented an "improved screw for music stools" in 1864.

This was one of several unassembled stools from the Horne factory. It was received in pieces, the seat and wooden balls separate. In April 1994, four balls were attached (not glued) to bottom of seat, and seat was attached to screw flange to keep all parts together. Three additional balls were received, presumably for the legs, but their dowels are too large for the holes.
