- Stone Rod. Medium gray, polishing stone. Long, flat, with rounded ends and rounded edges. One side, a little flatter than other side. Surface, tan color which appears to be residues from hand oils. Paper in sleeve with note on blue-lined paper, written in blue ink, script: "Polishing Stone (small considerable) / silica). c. 1050-1100".
