Stone, Worked

Object Name:
Stone, Worked
Object ID:
1977.510.039
Description:
Perforated stone. Lght gray color. Flattened sphere with one flat side with slight concave dish in it. Two round holes run through stone in horizontal direction. One hole blocked in center someplace. Other one has bit of curve to it which may be made from two straight channels meeting near their central point. Holes 0.17" in diameter. On one side, holes 0.85" between centers. On opposite side, holes 1.67" between centers. When resting on flat surface, horizontal holes are slightly above horizontal central line of object. Surface crack that goes from one edge to other, perpendicular to axis of holes. On side where holes are closest together, there is a small round depression between bottom edges of holes, which may be just coincidental. Difficult to say if random lighter areas are due to some unknown use of stone, particularly on side with crack in it.
