Gouge
- Object Name:
- Gouge
- Object ID:
- 1977.502.063
- Description:
- Gouge, medium gray stone. Shape rectangular with slight taper at one end. Cross section, almost hemispherical. Gouge appears to have been reworked. Deep, wide groove from center to the end. That end is flat and irregular. It looks like this end perhaps suffered some trauma so it could no longer be used. The opposite end, which is tapered to rounded edge, has very shallow groove but it leads to a cutting edge shape. Rounded bottom also extends upward to this cutting edge. Resulting cutting edge, dull, (as opposed to being sharp). Overall surface, quite pitted with a lot of brown coloration over darker body.
