Tongs
Object ID:
1957.065.04.090
Description:
Tongs, spring-loaded, steel pipe. Two elongated handles with central rib. One handle has spring riveted to inside surface. Other handle has extended end that becomes a round, iron section with S-shape twist in it that leads to a flattened disc at its end. Disc perpendicular to long axis of tongs. At front of handles, shafts become almost square. Tab extends from one handle into a slot in other handle shaft. Pivot pin passes through handle shaft and tab. Farther down shaft toward front is bent, tapered-down iron pin that extends from outside through both shafts and then extends another 1.3". Bent pin tapered to small point. Shafts then bow outward in opposite directions, then curve back toward each other. They then become round and extend toward end of tongs where they are bent toward each other and terminate in small, flat pads that are about same size, slightly greater than 0.5" diameter. Device well crafted.
