- Description:
- Measure, dry. Medium tan wood. Band of wood 0.32" thick, curved around to create hoop that is overlapped with tapered ends. Overlap fastened with steel tacks. Tapered ends of hoop were cut in place, indicated by cut lines on surfaces adjacent to them. Two pieces of wood 0.8" thick, cut to fit inside of hoop at bottom. Nailed in place with steel fasteners. These two pieces seem to be joined together by internal square pegs. Crack between these two pieces. Wooden band, 1" wide, 0.35" thick, bent around top edge to form hoop. Has long overlap of its tapered ends. Inside end butted up against underlying hoop end. Small band at top, edges nailed through inner hoop as well. Some corrosion and a break in top hoop near its end. Perhaps small piece missing from bottom edge near overlap. Bottom of wood stamped. Central stamp with serif letters, "G & W. P. F". Above that, single stamp, serif: "H. W. [ ]. GROVER". Below that, four numerals stamped individually: "1" "8" "4" "3".
