Provenance:
Clock believed to have been originally owned by Dea. Samuel Anderson (1781-1864) of Windham, NH. Perhaps it was acquired around the time of his marriage to Mary Wilson (1785-1843), in 1810. The clock remained with Deacon Anderson's descendants, father-to-son -- from Dea. Samuel Anderson to son William (1822-1866) who moved several times; then grandson Samuel (1849-1941) of Massachusetts; then great-grandson John W. (1885-1970) of Mass. and Conn. -- until its donation to NHHS.
Samuel Anderson, grandson of Deacon Samuel, requested that the clock be given to the NHHS on the death of his son, John W., and wife Mabel (1888-1982). The clock was given in 1974, after the death of John W. and upon the entry of Mabel into a nursing home.
