Communion set originally owned by the Congregational Church in Nottingham, NH (established 1729), using funds provided by Daniel Emery (bequest) and Samuel Parkman (names engraved on the pieces, with the date 1743). Donor's husband, Aura L. Gerrish (1837-1913), acquired the set from the church. Aura Gerrish was born in Nottingham, NH, and was a Pastor (in Rhode Island and Maine) for 50 years. This note came from the donor, Lucinda Rundlett Gerrish (b.c.1837), originally of Exeter, N.H.: "I think N.H. Historical Soc. is the place for them.... Another reason I would like to have them kept in NH is Mr. Tuck [Edward Tuck, 1842-1938], that has done so much for his Town and State, was our nearest neighbor when we were children and when the Mother wanted to go away from home, the 2 girls Abbie & Ellen could get along but Ned was so full of life & fun he was brought to our home for my mother to care for as I had a younger brother just about his age. I well remember their "Sham battles with pillows in the morning" was glad to have the family reunited again. I am a D.A.R. and my father was in the Civil War. I am the last of the family."
