- Description:
- Froe. Wrought iron, with wooden handle. Roughly rectangular iron blade with forged loop at one end for medium-brown, straight-grain, hardwood handle. Handle curves outward at top end; extends approximately 4.2" from edge of iron loop. Grain in handle follows curve. Oval handle 1.4" x 1.5" at blade. Forged loop welded back onto surface of blade. Small cracks in top and bottom surfaces adjacent to loop that extend into blade short distance. Upper end of blade beveled approximately 45 degrees downward where it meets slightly curved end. Cutting length of blade approximately 8.9". Sides of blade above cutting edge have numerous small, shallow pits on both sides. Cutting edge has slight undulations in its surface. Top of blade slightly convex near center. Slight outward flare of top edge near outer end.
