- Card game, "Authors Improved." In original cardboard box with chromolithographic cover: "AUTHORS / IMPROVED. / ILLUSTRATED EDITION / Milton Bradley Co. Springfield, Mass.", with image of books on a table. Edges of cover have a circular pattern with white flowers on inside of circle, and are held together by stitching. 72 playing cards, 68 of which depict an author and list three of his works. Four "prize cards." On reverse of each card is a print of a woman holding a lyre. Includes instruction sheet.
